Welcome to Atlantic Academy.  We opened in September 2018, in the inspirational setting of the North Devon Coast, our new academy offers a unique secondary school experience.  We are a small school community, and pride ourselves on the passion and enthusiasm staff have for the education of our students.

Working as part of the Launceston College Multi-Academy Trust, we combine the benefits of specialist staff from a large organisation, with the community approach of a small school.  Students have the chance to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding through the subjects they study, as well as the extra curricular activities which are available.

Our community of students excel in may areas; their role as student leaders, they are passionate about the environment, participation in a range of activities and commitment to their learning.   Our staff support this through excellent pastoral care, a focus on developing teaching and learning and the provision of a broad and balanced curriculum.

As we grow to our full capacity over the coming years, we look forward to working with current and future parents to shape our futures together.  We welcome prospective parents and students to visit us, to see what Atlantic Academy has to offer.

Important Message for Parents and Carers

We are pleased to announce our plan for the return of all students to Atlantic Academy.  In order to support the initial testing for asymptomatic cases of Covid-19, we are staggering the return over a two day period, with all pupils returning to class from Wednesday 10th March.  An overview of the key dates and year groups involved is given below.

We need to ensure that students have minimised their contacts prior to receiving confirmation of a negative coronavirus test.  To support this, we will arrange for bus transportation to be staggered on Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th March.  Confirmation of timings will be shared with parents shortly.  A copy of the letter sent to parents can be found here

Please can all parents ensure they have completed consent forms for students to be involved in the lateral flow tests, these were sent by email and school comms on Friday 26th February.  Further information about the lateral flow tests can be found by following this link.

Learning will continue be coordinated via our google classroom for students who are required to work remotely, if you wish to borrow a chromebook to facilitate student learning, please contact the school office to arrange this.  Additional devices are now available for students working at home, who previously may have had to share a device with a sibling.

Guidance for parents on our remote learning offer is now available on the website.

A rota has been drawn up to support students and parents know the schedule of online lessons, these are linked below.  At Key Stage 3, we have assigned timetabled teachers to deliver lessons face to face for pupils on site, or remotely for those at home.  This may mean students are following a slightly different timetable to normal, however we believe this improves the quality of education received.  Students will still receive instructions via thier normal google classroom, even if the lesson is delivered at a different time or by a different member of staff.

We look forward to welcoming all students back to Atlantic Academy next week.
