English Teacher with Humanities

Atlantic Academy are looking to appoint a Teacher of English with Humanities. The postholder will be an outstanding teacher who will implement and deliver an imaginative, challenging, inspiring, creative and differentiated curriculum for students, offering a personalised programme of study; monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher/tutor; facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve and exceed their individual potential and contribute to maintaining outstanding outcomes for students in this successful and collaborative faculty.

PA to Principal/Receptionist

Job title: PA to the Principal/Receptionist at Atlantic Academy, Bideford, Devon

Grade: £9.00 per hour, 38 weeks term time only

(£17,362) FTE

Hours: Monday to Thursday – 12.30 – 4.30pm

Friday – 12.30 – 4pm

Total – 20 hours per week

Main Purpose of Job:

  • To provide effective and efficient administrative support and diary management to the Principal.
  • To act as the first point of call for all Academy visitors and callers. To welcome visitors and direct as appropriate, and to manage all telephone calls and queries, re-directing as appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for organising and maintaining diaries, including arranging appointment, itineraries, making travel arrangements, co-ordinating meetings and events.
  • Receiving and prioritising telephone calls, dealing with them appropriately including accurately recording messages. Responding to queries including prioritising issues and investigating queries.
  • Minute taking at key meetings.
  • To assist with the organisation of school events, including open evenings and transition.
  • To collate information and draft and type correspondence and reports on instruction of the Principal.
  • To maintain accurate and comprehensive filing systems.
  • Using the schools computerised system (SIMS) to update and maintain records.
  • To welcome visitors in a professional and hospitable manner, ensuring signing-in procedures are followed, and to provide refreshments as required.
  • To ensure appropriate standards of tidiness and order in the school reception area so as to project a professional and welcoming environment for parents, students and visitors to the school.
  • Undertake general administrative duties using ICT and manual procedures including preparation of internal/external correspondence and reports, filing and photocopying, controlling stationery for the office, archiving Academy data both manually and electronically.
  • To distribute incoming post and goods received and aid with stock control. All aspects of post/receipt/delivery/posting/post office arrangements. Collecting and monitoring private postage.
  • Ensuring all correspondence and communications representing the Academy reflect the agreed (corporate style) professional standards.
  • Maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures as required reflecting actual processes.
  • To support students in the Academy as any issues or concerns arise.
  • To be the central point for the Academy on-call system so that messages can be appropriately transmitted.
  • To be aware of and adhere to applicable rules, regulations, legislation and procedures including the Schools Equal Opportunities Policy and Code of Conduct, national legislation (including Health and Safety, Data Protection).
  • To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for the department.
  • To be responsible for your own continuing self-development, undertaking training as appropriate.
  • To undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required.
  • To be first aid trained and to cover the Academy first aid requirements as necessary.

This is a fixed term role until July 2021.

Learning Support Assistant

Atlantic Academy are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their busy team.

There is a part time position available (10 hours in total, Monday and Tuesday) on a fixed term basis until 31st August 2020, term time only, pay point £9 per hour.

The role will be to take a pro-active role in the support of the educational, social and physical needs of the students; to support the curriculum and the College through the provision of assistance to the teacher in the practical organisation of class activities and small group work.
