All students from Year 7 to 10 participated in careers workshops this week, as we welcomed a range of of employers to our Academy. Students learnt about a range of roles. from the IT industry to outdoor careers including tree surgery and adventure learning instructors. We also welcomed the RNLI who spoke to students about their valuable work safeguarding users of our coastline.
Year 10 students will be embarking on work experience in the coming weeks, to immerse themselves into a career opportunity, and we look forward to hearing about their successes.
Monday 1st April, Atlantic Academy PTFA are hosting a pamper evening. £2 entry, with £5 per mini treatment. Come along and treat yourself! 6.30pm onwards.
Thank you to all who attended the Year 11 music performance, which contributes to their RSL music qualification. We were moved by the heartfelt performances from the students, who have been working hard on this. All students overcame their nervousness to perform well on the night. Students are now completing the final aspects of their coursework.
Students donned red clothes on Friday 15th March, to raise money for Comic Relief. Some of our visiting speakers and charities we have worked with have benefited from funding from Comic Relief, and we are proud to support this good cause.
Week commencing 4th March is National Apprenticeship week, and we will be running a range of activities during that time. Should students or parents have any questions about apprenticeships, please visit our information page, or speak to Mr Boardman for further guidance.
Any students wishing to attend the workshop at Petroc College on working within the NHS, must see Mr Boardman to book a place. The event is booked for the 8th March.
From February half term, all staff will be listing the homework set for their subjects via our eContact book. Students can log into this using their google passwords, and see all of their homework, including any links to support their work. This is a web based system which can be accessed via a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Students are now choosing their option subjects, following a programme of careers education in CPE, and the Year 9 parent teacher meeting.
Please discuss option choices with your son / daughter, and ensure that the paperwork is submitted by Wednesday 13th February.
